Thermal Labels
Direct Thermal
Direct Thermal (DT) uses a thermal print head that applies heat to the surface of the face material and causes a transformation turning the areas black. It’s sensitive to light, heat and abrasion shortening the lifespan of printed labels.
With many different printer models available in today’s market, more of them are being produced as dual model printers, meaning they can print both Direct Thermal (DT) or Thermal Transfer using specific ribbons.
Direct Thermal characteristics:
-
Thermal Economy Face – offers affordability and is used for short life labelling.
-
Thermal Top Coated Face – offers protection against smudging and a limited protection to moisture.
-
Thermal Top Polyprop Synthetic – offers smudge and scratch protection with a high resistance to moisture and water.
Thermal Transfer
Thermal Transfer (TT) uses a thermal print head that applies heat to the ribbon and surface of the material producing durable, long lasting images on a wide range of materials. Printing in Thermal Transfer opens up a range of materials and can be more flexible to your requirements.
Suitable Materials for Thermal Transfer:
- Vellums & Semi gloss papers.
- Matt, Gloss, White or Clear Polypropylenes, Polyethylene’s, PVC’s, Polyesters and Cards.
- Silver, Gold, Holographic or Day-Glo.
- Tamper evident materials
To go hand in hand with the Thermal labels we also offer ribbons in three main categories:
-
Wax – Suitable for vellum (matt) face papers.
-
Wax/Resin – Suitable for semi gloss/gloss face papers.
-
Resin – Suitable for synthetic materials.
For both Direct Thermal and Thermal Transfer labels we offer plain, colour-washed or part printed labels producing economical small or large runs with the larger runs produced on our 370mm wide presses. We also provide Thermal Print Heads, software and maintenance on printers as and when needed or can offer service contracts for your printers.
